JOB-SHADOWING IN FINLAND
The "job shadowing" or professional observation period is one of the most common practices in European companies. Essentially, the "job shadowing" means spending a period of time with an expert abroad, observing the work done and learning the daily work routine.
During the course 2014-2015 kept constant contact and communication with Arja Naamanka, the Finnish teacher. After a year of contact, last August 2016 I travelled to Oulu (Finland) for a week. The objectives in my visit were:
• Know other methodologies
• Establish future contacts to create new projects
• Knowing a new foreign culture
• Improve the foreign language that we use for our communication
• Enrich my professional curriculum
The school was Kastelli Koulu in Oulu, a city in northern Finland
When visiting Oulu, I attended classes:
- Maths in 9th, 8th and 7th grade
- Inglés
- Chemistry Lab - Experiments with Calcium and Magnesium
- PE - Finnish baseball
- Spanish lesson
- Physics: electricity
- History (High school)
- Inglés 8th
- Arts
Highlights of education in Finland:
- Lots of resources and materials for teachers and students
- Fantastic facilities
- Great predisposition to learning by students
- Teachers highly involved in their tasks.
